I Made It—From Hillsborough Community College to a Thriving Manufacturing Career

Few people can say they found a job doing something they love. And even fewer can say they did so straight out of school and within the same city. Chris Mizell is one of the lucky ones.

After completing the two-year manufacturing degree program at Hillsborough Community College, Mizell landed a position at Hillsborough County manufacturer Advanced Airfoil Components, where he has continued to build upon the skills learned in his degree. He has since risen to the role of Senior Maintenance Technician, and looks forward to continuing to advance in his career.

“I love my job. I love the everyday change. I love the innovation with the technology—just the environment in general. Not everybody does what we do here,” Mizell said.
