Key Takeaways:
Manufacturing is not what it used to be. Now is a crucial time for awareness that reframes how students, parents and jobseekers see our robust industry.
Working well in manufacturing is all about attitude. Curiosity, a desire to work with your hands, working well with others, and the ability to see each piece as part of a larger puzzle are key attributes that lead to career success in manufacturing. Technical skills are certainly important, but can always be learned.
You don’t need a 4-year degree to get started in manufacturing. To get into manufacturing, you need a strong work ethic and at least a high school diploma. For some students who join a training program, it’s possible to earn a GED while taking technical courses.
You can build a rewarding career in manufacturing. While our industry offers competitive salaries, what’s really exciting is the tremendous opportunity for growth within our community. Strong interpersonal skills and hard work are rewarded with chances for career advancement.
There’s room for everyone in manufacturing. The manufacturing industry is seeing increased female participation and has a high demand for women in manufacturing. With nearly 50% of the current workforce over the age of 45, there is also demand for young manufacturers to support the industry’s long-term success.
After hearing from our panelists, it’s clear the manufacturing industry is thriving and rich with opportunity. Click here and enter passcode dH02@3@s to watch the full webinar.
