McLane Robotics Students Tackle State STEM Conference
May 11, 2020 5:04 pmWhile most middle school students are busy attending their regular english, math and science classes, students in the McLane Middle School STEM and Robotics program are anything but ordinary. This past February, McLane STEM and Robotics students participated in the 2020 Florida Technology Student Association Annual State Conference where they competed against more than 2000 students in events ranging from robotics to digital photography.
“It’s a remarkable thing that allows students to show the skills that they have learned in school,” said Mike Wilson, robotics and engineering teacher at McLane Middle School.
McLane’s Robotics Academy is one of 4 STEM Middle School academies in Hillsborough County. On top of their regular courses, students have the unique opportunity to learn about manufacturing and develop advanced programming and engineering skills through their robotics class. By pushing manufacturing and STEM related careers to the forefront, McLane Middle School shows students the world of possibilities that these promising fields have to offer.
